I had a wee job for a friend to do an image of a female explorer with a giant magnifying glass. As I always really like getting an inside view into other peoples process I thought I'd include my process sketches too.

Well it's been a little while, I've been busy working on my diamonds for Seed Gallery's 'Diamonds In The Rough' Christmas exhibition, same deal as previous years, 10 identical wooden objects. This years shape was diamonds. I dropped them off yesterday but forgot to take photos of them, whoops! Anyway here's the link to the exhibition.

And here's a little sketch from last night. I get impatient at pencil sketching so don't do it at all sometimes. But them I end up with girls with one arm waaay longer than the other. Oh well. 

Her feline friend is modeled on my own.

These are for my long slumbering Greybeard project, it's an epic poem about a spider who is the captain of a ship and his gullible crew of moths, fleas and flies.

From the garden.

This is my cat Shorty, she was a stray who turned up last October. Her talent is sleeping in ridiculously cute positions, showing off her fluffy tum. These were pencil sketches which I filled in with ink and touches of gouache. When she closes her eyes she is almost entirely monochrome, just little touches of pink on her nose and paws, it lends itself to ink very nicely.
